period 3(1931-1960)
introduction: During 1931 through 1960, one of the most important events that occurred was world war two. Women played a huge role in world war two even though they weren’t actually fighting in the war. While men were off fighting, women filled in men’s roles back in America. Six million women entered the workforce. The jobs they entered were mainly clerical work, but other women did things that were considered “men’s work.” 200,000 women joined special, non-combat military units. Women’s army corps were created to help with the war. WAVES (women accepted for volunteer emergency service) was the branch of the U.S. naval reserve. Women also served as military nurses and photographers for the war.
